Hey everyone! I have limited experience with mushroom hunting, but I think libs are fairly easy to identify once you know what to look for. Is anyone aware of any poisonous look alikes to libs in NL and how poisonous are we talking if there are any? anyways thanks and happy hunting

This is fucking hilarious. I just came to the forums to ask a question about the same thing and saw your post before I could ask.
I'm in St. John's.
A friend of mine who didn't know what he was at got really sick one time. His kidneys were all fucked up. I don't know if he ate bad mushies, or if regular mushies on top of what he was taking along with them (heavy stoner) caused them to fail.
However, I know that in the field that he picked them grows a mushroom that looks just like conocybe tenera, which is an orange mushroom. I actually meant to send Alan a message asking if he knows what geographies tenera grows. But don't eat anything orange, and post pics of anything you pick here before eating them.
conocybe tenera

I found Conocybe filaris both today and yesterday, that is a little deadly orange mushroom. Both times I collected it to teach it to others. Conocybe filaris causes liver failure.
Some of the Mycena species that resemble liberty caps contain muscarine and are toxic.
There is no reason to make any mistakes like these, once you learn the differences between the mushrooms it is very plain to see, they basically shout out their identity to you when you look at the underside of a mushroom. If you have studied enough you will understand what all the features put together are telling you.

i don't know of any evidence that suggests psilocbye mushrooms (regular mushrooms?) and/or cannabis can cause renal problems.
so most likely your friend ate something bad.

Thanks for the help! I definately have seen little orange mushrooms the same size as libs where I have picked, but they are pretty damn different looking than any libs. I am not so concerned with identifying any mushrooms I have allready picked, since I am "certain" they are libs, I am just freeking out a bit since I tried them recently...and I am getting paranoid,as I have had a weird pain in my stomach, but i believe thats unrelated, i am pretty sure it hurt before tripping...ps I am also from st. john's, I hope your findings have been as fruitiful as mine have been..Peace ouT!
Edit...like I am concerned that maybe say one wrong got mixed it, are any of the "look alikes" THAT poisonous? I know I am being a weiner, I did inspect every single mushroom multiple times but I am sure you can Understand my fear...

if you're really unsure, don't eat them.
or...even better...read the Sample ID Request thread and post your own ID request with some pics so we can give you our two cents.
