i wouldn't try to do an id on a desicated specimen if i where you, but since i'm not and i know the draw of semies i'll se if i can help. first of all a lot of the libs i find show no noticable bluing even when dried so it's not to be expected IMO, though if they did it would be infinitely helpful. alright did you get the spore color? if they won't drop you might try twisting up the corner of a piece of tissue and swabing the gills to try an get a deposite. what are the proportions (cap hight, cap width, stem length, etc)? how much of the bases did you get, did you break them off at ground level or pull up any of the stems from under ground? if so describe them. what kind of grass where they found in if you can tell me? where they in tufts of grass? anything else relevent to the enviroment or structure of the specimens you think of. also did they seem to be changing color where they wher drying? hope i can help. peace, concretefeet.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Iowa Rasta, if you live in Iowa then chanceds are thyey are not liberty caps which are a cold weather species in the fall after july through nov-dec in some areas i the Pacific northwest from Bandon Oregon to British Colombua and from west of the cascades to the west coast ocean.

I would also like to add that, although it has been awhile since I found libs...did not search for a few years there...They do grow on the east coast of Canada and the USA...even as far inland as Quebec/ parts of Vermont too I believe...don't think they grow in Iowa though.
Cheers

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.
