Whole brown rice is my new favorite substrate

I have found it helps alot to add some verm to the mixture....otherwise it's hard for me to get the moisture content right.

I like brown pasture's brown rice tek....for me the 9er tek gets like half the jars to wet.

i've used the rice tek alot, but it never seemed to work out for me. sure i got suitable results but they were less than what i was going for. i'm currently using the PF Tek and it seems to be working just fine. i'm sure if it's done right the rice cake method could become a very nice harvest. the only down side i can see to it is that you don't have that extra layer of verm for protection.

I have all rice jars incubating now. I dont have the verm layer on top, im useing poly fil lids. No contams but it is taking longer than avg. to finish since i injected the spores onto the surface of the rice.
