well... after 2 hours of searching and a 1/2 a tank of gas i just said fuck it im not gonna get desiccant and decided to get a Food Dehydrator....
I got a pretty nice one for $40 and it has 4 racks to put shit on and a temperature gauge...
now my question is, what is a good temperature to dry shrooms on?? it can go anywhere from 95-155 in 10 degree incriments....

Hey JohnnyR,
I too use a dehydrator at 95 F. If you get pretty big shrooms, slice them vertically in half with a sharp knife before putting them in the dehydrator...they'll dry faster that way. I always have cracker crisp shrooms within 10-12 hours at 95 F.

If you were correct, nobody would trip off mushroom tea...all tea recipes call for boiling water...so if your theory would be correct, none of the psilocybin would survive the boiling. From what I've read heat can cause the potency to drop...but not vanish. Also...if this is true...none of the shrooms growing in sub-tropical, tropical or equatorial areas would never survive let alone make you trip.
I'm not an expert...but apparently there isn't much validity to the heat-kills-shrooms street myth. It would be nice to see some cited/documented info about heat and potency.
To me...if shrooms grow in place like South America, Mexico, Thailand, etc where the temperatures are roasting...there has to be other factors aside from heat that will effect potency or potency loss.

Considering the re-crystalization temperatures of both psilocin and psilocybin are both far in excess of 105 *CELCIUS*, I doubt either would docompose at 105 farenheit. (Refence: Merck Index).
What I can tell you, however, is that there does seem to be an issue of decomposition of both these substances in situ. It's been theorized that water content assists with decomposition.
So, it's water that's your enemy and not heat. IMHO.
Of course, I'm only a licensed chemist in a certain 3rd world country -- so take everything I say as bullshit
