Agaricus Brunnescens question (Portobello)
    #758969 - 07/19/02 10:32 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I have a print that I want to grow and I am wondering about the innoculation and colonization stage.

Can I put the spores in a liquid solution (such as the Karo liquid mycelium tek) and get it started that way or do I need to go to agar first.

Also, can I use the liquid culture to spawn BRF and use that to spawn dung / compost, which would be cased after it was colonized, or should I try the liquid culture directly onto the dung / compost?

Thanks for the help all.

(Yes I did get the GGMM, but I am trying to use techniques that I have done before.)

Your best success will be to use the print to make some agar plates, use the agar to innoculate some rye grain, then spawn some pasturized straw. I doubt a liquid culture would work with the agaricus, but then again... I've not tried it with the brunnescens.
Lengthy proccess I know, but this will be the best way.

Take Care

I'm trying to clone some right now in a sugar solution (experiment, and all I had). Funny thing is, I think weak mycelium is growing. I'll post a pic if anyone is interested.

Remember that these babies love manure!!!

What do you need to know?

A copy of Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms by Stamets is worth acquiring.
