casing help!!

broke up 1/2 pint puerto cake into a small container about 6 inches in diameter, and 4 inches tall with a air-tight lid. i didnt put a casign layer on top so itll recover, now i checked, (been a week or so), and its all fuzzy everywhere, so im guessing it recoverred nicely and recolonized well, then again theres these , what looks like white spikes? coming uot of everywhere, is this normal? if so, what isit? im pertty damn sure its not pins, but yeah anyways, should i put a casing layer on top now? if so, what should i do after i put the layer on? should i fruit right away? or ley it colonize top layer for a good percentage first?

The fluzz and spikes could be overlay . You may want to check somehow, try taking a STERILE(alcohol soaked) knife and touching one of the spikes with it to see if its hard, if it is its overlay.

With PRs you should put it straight into the fruiting chamber, PR mycelium will still grow in there and you'll have a better chance of getting it to pin.

Sound like hyphal knots. Precursor to pins. If they look like little stumps and are spikey just give it a while, this is where pins come from. But I think you should put another casing layer on top. Ive never heard of casing without a top layer, unless you spawned into dung. Then you can have them fruit like that, or put a top layer. I hear its better to add a top casing layer. Anyways Im ripped, Colarado Cough is dank........

The spikes are just mycelium poking through the casiong layer. Some strains do that. I have Gulf Coast and they do that sometimes very high above the casing layer.

Put the casing layer on lol's. That was the point!! It will recover with a layer on top.
