Casing probems

Last Monday (10th) I cased my not quite fully colonized hay with the 50/50+ casing tek descibed on this site. 15 cups verm, 15 cups peat, 4.5 cups oyster, 2.4 cups hydrated lime. Wht I did was basically mixed the dry ingrediants in my p.cooker filled it with tap water and cooked it at 170+ for an hour. Then with the lid not on all the way I allowed it to drain upside down for about 3-4 hours. Then I dumped the casing into a plastic tall kitchen garbage bag and spread over the surface at a depth of about an inch. I have this container out of site/mind in a cooler( 65ish) dark area in my basement. So far have not been able to see any growth into the casing, yet have noted continued growth throughout the substrate. Have I done something wrong?

65 f? I'm no expert but I've noticed mine seem to grow better at 80 or so. I'm pretty sure the colder the temp, the slower it grows.

Does anyone know the approximate delay in case run for the cooler temperature associated without incubation?

oh this may sound incredibly lame, but is the garbage bag still under your casing mix? if so, it will be until after Christ comes before it is colonized.
otherwise try setting your terrarium on top of another with a few gallons of water and an aquarium heater in it. eventually the heat will rise all the way through your substrate, yet should be moderate enough to not cause probs.
65 degrees compared to 80 will take aproximatly double the time with tropical species like cubensis. over 85 degrees will tend to favor mold over mushroom according to Stamets.

fire ants have noticed no delay only lack of abundant fruit.

The cause of the delay might be three things according to theory:
1. temperature (as said by others).
2. the depth of your casing . My mycelium pokes through in only 2-3 days, but my casing layer is only half an inch deep or even less... your's should take about twice the time or more if temp is actually low. In this respect, the delay seem normal. (My casing layer is the same as Pako's)
3. Your casing layer might be too damp as well. You should heat up your terrarium to the right temp and let it evaporate while mycelium gets through.
4. Have you covered/wrapped your box with tin foil or an equivalent cover in order to let CO2 to build and allow the mycelium to develop?
LilMerlin.... who had luck with all his (6) casings, but who's still waiting for pins to show up (I have the problem opposite to yours: my temps are too high for quick fruiting, I guess )

Okay I've set up my incubater and have had it running for more than 36 hs now and the termometer has topped at 85.8F just above the casing(a little warm). What I have is one of those sterlite large tupperare containers fill with about 5 inches of hay and about inch of casing as decribed above on top. All I have is the lid that came with it to cover and a blanket partially on it and the incubator below. I still havent seen anything "pop" through the surface. I noticed heavy condestion on the lid and the casing still appears to be moist. I have not watered it since I made the casing. I am wondering if I might have a poorly ph balanced casing or if it was entirely too wet to start and if either can I fix it? How much longer should I wait now that's the temp is up?
