Peruvian Torch Cutting
    #754014 - 07/17/02 03:09 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

I just recieved my Peruvian Torch Cutting. It has been cut for a bit from the looks of the callused cut bottom. It is a bit beat up , I guess from shipping and all, and I guess they are hard on them at the place I got it from. Most of the spines are broke off and it has some little holes and scratches on it.

Should I plant this and treat it the same way as a San Pedro?
ALso will the spins regrow where they have been broken off?

And what about the bad spots on it, will they just stay there?

That looks like a San Pedro to me, nothing Peruvian about it, they sent you a Pedro. Looks fine. That's the length the spines are supposed to be. All of the spots are scars, bumps, and bruises of various sorts. All Pedros have them. They add character to the plant.

Yep, Pedro... Trichocerus Pachanoi

All those who grow the cactus have those bumps man, it's starting to form on our skin too, cause we touch our cactii too much.

Actually man i am almost sure that that is neither pachanoi nor peruvianus. I think it is bridgessei. That looks a lot like it anyways.

It does look like a peruvian with either spines cut down or just short spines. Remember, there is more to whether it is pedro or peru than how long the spines are.
