I think your method seems sound...don't know if anything else could really help...I know weilii just popped up in GA in 1995 after a hurricane whipped through...they probably lay dormant in the soil for a long time before being awoken by the strength and wet of the almighty hurricane. maybe Una or Workman know of a better method.

When rehydrating the spores, I've never found the temperature increase to be of benifit, only during the germination stage.
Your method sounds good to me as well.
