Found a bunch of these while out hunting today.

Habitat: Wood - Found in deciduous woods, growing straight from a fallen rotting tree.

Gills: The gill color varies from a white to light brown. Tightly arranged

Stem: Light brown to brown, strong, same length all the way down. 1/2 cm wide.

Cap: Light brown on outside, turns into bright orange in the middle. 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter

Spore print color: Brown.

Bruising: Orange in center.

Location: Picked in Pacific Northwest, Washington

And where are you more likely to find active ones in pacific northwest? fields, forests. I am aware of cow pastures but for those of us that don't want to trespass take a shotgun to the face, what is the best option? Thanks

This looks a little like bigger specimens of a mushrooms I found earlier this year. I thought it was some kind of Stropharia but people suggested something else... Let me look if I can find that thread again...

What you can't see in my pics is that this thing had a "root" that stuck to the ground. Yours look a little like it so it's probably the same species...
