niccotine patches

i put one on for the first time today and as soon as did that particular 2 square inches of my arm starts itching uncontrollably. isn't that a bitch! does anyone know if this is a normal side effect or what? i can't find any relief from the itching, but i need my sweet cigarette methadone.

Yeah that's a normal side effect. It's the nicotine being absorbed into your skin. My Fentanyl patches feel the same way. I usually take care of it by rubbing Benadryl cream into the skin really well about a half hour before putting the patch on (to give the medication time to absorb) and it helps with the discomfort.

i see...i've never worn a transdermal patch before so i wasn't sure. i think i'll pry this thing off and try some itch cream before i go any further. thanks for the tip.

i tried to do it cold turkey for about a week but then whenever i had a night of drinking i fucked up and smoked a bunch, so i decided to try the patches so i can drink while i'm quiting and not have those strong urges. hopefully i'll get used to drinking and not smoking and it'll break up the whole relationship between the two. that's my little theory anyway. hopefully it will work.

Figure out what is making you smoke, as hard as that is, then go beyond it. I just figured out how to do it not so often and my doc says I'm a miracle, why not then?
