I say opiates, maybe not the most addictive. But once you are addicted, it's by far the hardest addiction to over come. The easiest addiction to acquire would be crack probably, over nicotine.

My good friend used to IV meth on an irregular basis and he has been sober for ever a year. 99.9% rate I guess.

IV heroin is most likely the most addictive drug from what i've gathered

i'd say meth is pretty damn addicting

nicotine/ciggerate addiction is odd. YOu just start smoking a couple occasionally. A couple weeks later, your smoking a pack a day. You tell yourself you like the taste etc. and thats why you smoke em. In reality, your addicted and not having a ciggerate when you want one is a bitch.

Been there, done that, still there :-(

i watched a friend of mine destroy her life due to her meth addiction
i doubt a nicotine addiction could be as detrimental

but at least i got to feel her boobies!

Nicotine is seriously hard to quit due to the fact that its legal, easily obtained, and comes with a good amount of physical cravings.  However, nicotine withdrawal, for me, isn't that bad.  I've quit for a long period of time before cold turkey and never felt a thing.

Now benzos, on the other hand, take a while to get you hooked but have absolutely the WORST withdrawal symptoms out of any drug I have ever known.  I've read so many times that the withdrawal symptoms are worse than and at least five times longer lasting than heroin.  Some people never feel the same again years later.  This is why I have been, and probably always will be addicted to Klonopin.

Xanax for me. Though I'm considering a switch to klonopin. I hate the mini withdrawls between doses. Though a valerian or two seems to help.

And yeah, withdrawl sucks hardcore. I made it four months before I gave in and got a script. It just nevar ends.

I don't know if it's THE most addictive chemical; in fact, I'm almost certain it isn't.

That said, I quit doing cocaine cold-turkey after months of abuse, and I have yet to be able to quit smoking cigarettes, despite a very strong desire to do so. This, however, is due to fact that smoking cigs not only creates a dependancy on nicotine, but also forms a terrifyingly strong habit. I can deal with no nicotine, but the ritual is so deeply ingrained into my daily schedule that it's nearly impossible to let go.

I'll get there soon enough.

cigarettes i think are only really addicting if you over indulge, or have smoked for a LOOONG time...like 5 years or more. for the past year and a half i've smoked about a pack per week, but i'll go five days sometimes without even thinking about smoking. i run every other day so if i don't limit my smoking like this i really kill my endurance. it's not hard though.

opiates though...damn i've felt the fiending after just a small binge on vicodins. i can function so well on them and it feels so good that i really could just see myself slipping into a daily habit without even caring (for a while  ). i haven't even messed around with hard opiates. i imagine it would be much harder after a weeklong heroin binge to resist going out and getting another baggy.

I did meth every way it can be done (snorted, smoked, injected) for a whole summer a few years ago

Now I only do it about 1-2 times a year

I did crystal for a stint in the mid nineties. Just snorting shards. I haven't touched it since, except in the odd E pill. One or two times a year aint bad. You can obviously handle it. Some people can.

Oh my god, you went 4 months?  My hat's off to you.  I went almost a month without meds one time before I broke down and called my doctor and told him how I had downed my script.  I was getting by on Valerian and Kava for that one.  You probably already know Klonopin is longer acting, has a 36 hour half life.

BTW like your bible!

I had the chance to hang out with this old school hippy a few months ago, very knowledgeable man. After serving his time for heroin possession, he worked (amongst other things) helping people with drug addictions. We were talking about smoking tobacco, and he said that by far it was the most addicting substance, readily available, can be done socially, and harder to give up than heroin.

I doubt he was exaggerating.
