The only reason nicotine is considered more addictive than other substances is because it's widely available and staring all of us in the face at every gas station and every grocery store and every department store in the good ol' U.S. of A.

I've done a lot of cocaine, smoked my fair share of crack, snorted and smoked heroin, and smoked and snorted meth, and I've yet to get addicted to any of those. If I shot any of those, it'd probably be different.

Nicotene is the only thing that hooked me, but I started at an early age when my mind was still impressionable (14).

From what I've seen in other people, Heroin is the most physically addictive while Crack or Meth is more mentally addictive. Though I never had a problem with any of them.

i agree it clearly is a personal thing, some people can quite cigerettes with the snap of a finger, while others can't live without them

A college professor I once had did a study on this very thing with lab rats. He gave them every addictive drug you can think of like nicotine, heroin, morphine, alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine, benzos, caffeine, sugar, and probably more. Anyways, he was trying to determine which one of these was the strongest reinforcer, thereby making it the most addictive.

He found that NICOTINE was #1! The next was benzos, then opiates, and then stimulants I believe.

Anyways, I could possibly figure out his name and then try and dig the actual paper up that he wrote on the topic if anyone is interested. I believe it was a pretty well recognized study that was published in a serious psychology journal.

LOL, you've never done meth have you?

again, meth culture in the USA is completely different from what it is like in australia--there are many different aspects to consider too and not just one, because it has nothing to do with potency. I could go into the logistics of it all for you, but I just took xanax after not having it for days so I will be hitting bed now.

somebody remind me tomorrow.

Your opinions are like excretion to me, I don't even look at them before I flush.

Keep that in mind to save yourself time in future.

okay, i woke up to drink some booze.

is OZ meth culture more fucked than this?

(Pay attention to the more abused than alcohol bit)
hahaahha, that was my friend in that picture too... i smoked out of that pipe lmao

besides, meth in OZ is expensive as hell--what are standard prices, like $100 for a G? unless you're super rich, you wouldn't be able to support a heavy habit.

I know some people can quit very addictive substances easily, but generally it can be determined which drug is more chemically addictive. It's hard though to do something like that clinically, and it relies on a lot of testimonial evidence.

In my personal experience and in my observations of others, cigarettes are the hardest drug to stop. I've heard that cigarettes are harder to quit than heroin, I'm sure others have too. I don't know of any clinical study to back this up, but I would have to say yes that's true from my observations and experience.

If it's not more addictive, it's definitely as addictive. Think of all the times people try and try and try to quit and cannot, and go through extreme mood swings when trying to quit. Go to an aa meetings, and see how so many people there claim to be off drugs, but then are still addicted to cigarettes. It's not because they need a release. It's because it's so hard to quit.

Think of people who don't make it, even after trying nicotine patches and other methods, and knowing how bad it is for them. People who don't quit, even when they know it's harming their families and children.

I think the fact that it's so toxic makes it much more chemically addictive. And the fact that you can hardly go anywhere without smelling it.

Meth and heroin are addictive, very. But the sudden craving you get for nicotine is much greater.

Yeah, here's the fallacy about using lab rats as a model for human beings considering: WE ARE NOT BIOLOGICALLY SIMILAR. The simple fact that certain drugs cause a higher LD-50 rate in monkeys than it does rats should be an ample case to support this.

yes, people really are different when it comes to their drug of choice.

i always used to hate downers until recently, but lately ive been having a strong affinity for the stronger opiates... IV of course.

but considering i was never an opiate person, i can still keep my usage under control. for example, i only take downers at night, to help me sleep. and if i were to ever stumble upon meth, i would only smoke it in the morning... this is the only way to use drugs and remain functional in my honest opinion.

well.......... so long as your supply doesnt run out.

out of the drugs i have tried i would say GHB/GBL were the most addictive for me personally.

nicotine makes me feel sick

havn't tried meth, crack or skag (yet?) but i would guess crack would
force you into dependance quicker as the high doesn't last as long...

More like $100 for 1/4 gram of really good gear.

That's the problem, you can't support the habit, you have to scam/steal and do all sorts of fucked things to use.

People can go through $500 in a single day, and these people abuse 24/7 pretty much, so imagine the amount of crime Australian IV meth users create.

Not nice people. Me, I was able to use because I knew a cook... I would buy a $50, have an injection and sell the $50 (and it was still bigger then what other dealers were selling), or buy a $100, have 2 injections and sell 2 x $50's.

I was able to binge nonstop.

all junkies are like that though--doesnt matter if its crack, meth, or h... they all do steal. but yes i do agree the ridiculous prices for a substance they are addicted to are what is causing a lot of crime in your country.

and $100 for a 1/4G is fucking ludicrous, ... i think i paid that price for a teener (1.75G) of that GCMS tested gear that showed 96% pure meth. (its the stuff i overdosed and seized on)

I believe we discussed this somewhere before in this topic though: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=6&Number=7465016&page=1&fpart=3

i know this seems strange but i really do miss my gnarly ass track marks. ;_; all i'd have to do is show em to paranoid as all fuck dealers, and they'd be like "DAYUMMMMMMM" and finally be chill with me after seeing em.

As I often post in these threads, cigarettes and tobacco are addictive, nicotine, much less so.

If you blind people to the treatment conditions, and give nicotine in non-tobacco form, people will report that they do not like it, and will not choose to receive it again.

There are major psychological aspects about cigarettes that make them addicting, which appear to be as important (if not more so) than nicotine.
