Middleman and the Mysticism Forum
    #7413933 - 09/15/07 05:14 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

In another thread that geokills in all his infinite wisdom declared a dead issue when it was just getting interesting stated:

"Nice.

I don't have any beliefs, but I have many suspicions.

I think you skeptics are just jealous because we've seen things that you haven't.
Either that or you're scared shitless that we might be telling the Truth...

Oh, and why is it so hard for you to understand the difference between 'questioning' and 'harshly criticizing'?"

In this thread, it was stated that satire and sarcasm are banned from the Mysticism forum because some of "our more sensitives" can't handle it.

What a crock of bull!

Middleman, you actually hold the claim that skeptics are "scared...[of the] truth??" While you can't even let your ideas of truth stand up to the devices of sarcasm and satire?

Are you at all familiar with the concept of the marketplace of ideas? It is a basic philosophy that states that the truth can only be deciphered if it is scrutinized and debated...and your attitutde toward debate in that other thread sounds almost fascist...

Do you think Mark Twain was scared of slave owners?

I find your entire stance ridiculous.

I dont think I've ever posted in that forum, but the amount of whining and complaining that seem to eminate from those who do makes me wonder if its even worth having....

It is worth having because people post there. It's not like MRP has more bullshit in it than the Pub or OTD; at least positive outlooks on life are regularly espoused in the former.

at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Concise and correct.

Is there an honest complaint being addressed in this thread, or is it simply an off topic continuation of drama from the post Geo locked?

Doobie, I find your entire stance ridiculous.

All truth is relative, and some things simply can't be proven (yet).

If I say I met a Grey, but have no proof, all you can do is mock me or walk away.
All I can do is talk with other people who have had similar experiences...

After a few years in S+P, we were getting tired of being mocked,
so Ythan in his infinite wisdom gave us The Mysticism Forum.

Please read the rules for M,R+P to understand my bias against debate, criticism, and sarcasm.
I hate to sound like a fascist pig, but I'm just DOING MY JOB Sir...  :paperairplane:
I said some people must be scared of the (possible) truth, because they can't seem to just let us BE... :whack:

Here is the real joke about MRP.

Trolling is against the rules. Fair enough.

But when a poster asks a question in the opening thread that is impossible to answer without breaking the delicate rules (i.e. linkings studies, using facts and logic); then that in fact is trolling.

Example:

Thread-starter: An alien came into my room, what do you guys think about that?

Respondent: Was it at night, shortly before or after sleeping?

Thread-starter: Why, yes!

Respondent: Then what you experienced was most likely a hypnogogic state.

Mod to Respondent in PM: This is your first warning!

To all you noobs to MRP, repeat after me:

"Yes, I agree."

"Hey, that is really cool!"

"I feel the same way."

These and similar responses will keep you out of trouble and everyone can stay in their safe fantasyland.

How about when you come in a legitimate thread and post nothing but:

Did you forget you weren't in MR&P? If you don't like a topic, you could always just not post in it. No reason to be a prick.

Yeah, I don't really plan on posting there but there really is a rank smell of bullshit coming from it.

I don't really pretend to understand how MR&P functions, yet, subsequently, I don't find myself posting or reading there.

P&S has flourished ever since the split, that much I can be certain. I'm thankful for MR&P's existance, and am glad that others who do use the forum for their own reasons have a place in which to share with each other. People have different interests and wish to satisfy themselves by discussing them in their own way.

Not that we are sensitive in P&S, but is not MM's comment as quoted above completely out of line?

I made a comment within the thread in P&S when I found it affirming that P&S is focused upon discussing the ideas presented, and not the personal nature of the individuals presenting the ideas for discussion. The post doesn't exactly lie in accordance with the purpose and intention of the forum, which is why I stated as much.
