i've never heard of that, but it probably couldn't hurt. i think that no other methods are really that much better then the standard. if you're really into speeding colonization up, put a fifth hole in the middle of the jar and inoculate there as well, make your own syringes and use like half a spore prints worth for each, and always keep them at the right temps.

Don't shake when doing a multispore inoc. Those who use agar use it to redistribute the mycelium in whole grained substrates. peace camel

I have shaken regular PF Tek type jars right after innoculation, and after the mycilla have begun to show up.It colonized normally, although it was difficult to see progress, since it colonized all at once. It did seem to colonize a bit faster than normal. After birthing the cake it looks just like any other cake. Don't shake them after they have colonized very much, they won't hold together when you try to birth them. I tried that too, its alright if you want to case cake chunks, but does not seem to help the colonization speed.

Oops! Forget my last post! I never really tried shaking cakes, just heard it wasn't a good idea. But you should use rye anyway

I think CONDIL is right on the money. If you want my opinion...I wouldn't shake. I do just fine without. Takes my jars 15 days for 100%. using the PF TEK.------------------ If your not living on the edge....Then your taking up to much space.
