haha death is one of the oldest jokes around, and one of our greates blessings.

just watch the roadrunner cartoons and see that death is a joke that is told even to kids.

i know i have joke countless times about people dying and had a hearty laugh. now 3000 people in a flaming building is a terrible event

but fuck man it was a while ago about 1/10 of your life ago.

yes you are gonna die too! and i find that hilarious.

just think that by age 21 you have lived one third to one fourth of your life and maybe you will start getting death jokes.

It was one of the first things I ever saw at the Shroomery, before I registered. I thought it was awesome.

I could post the "Jump" video here too. I wonder what kind of response THAT would get in the Pub.

why mourn?

Even if the U.S. destroyed the buildings "themselves", whats wrong with mourning over the fact a lot of people lost a family member or a friend they will never see again? Just put your self in someones shoes who lost a dad or a mom because of this sick tragedy.

I propose that we all spare a moment to think about all the innocent Iraqi civilians killed since 2003.

Honestly it shouldn't matter why someone was lost. I don't sit around moping and mourning my own passed family members, so why should I mourn the loss of others.
It sucks, but I'm not gonna dwell on it every year. I'd hate to sound lame and cliche, but that really is just making the people who did it happy, so what's the point anyway?

the point is all them shiny half dollar mimorials selling on ebay for $30.

yes lets remember 3000 people dieing each year....to remind us why were in iraq...thats all its about. at least...thats why its in the paper and crap.

im sure every year on sept 11, our gov gets 1million letters saying bomb iraq some more.

but as jew said, why mourn a stranger? and why are we not mourning the iraqy's that have died? nobody gives a dam about them right? cuss they are a different "culture"...just think about it.

I didn't say I don't remember.
But I don't mourn or mope on the anniversary. It happened. Dwelling on the past is a waste of time.

You dont have too. I mean I don't sit around pouting all day either when it comes to 9/11. IMO joking about thousands of innocent people being killed isn't cool.

but to other people mourning them isn't cool either.

their is 2 sides to every coin and you must accept others don't think like you do.

put yourself in their shoes.

I don't see how dwelling on anything can help me get anywhere.
"Least we forget" means just that, don't fucking forget. Not "make a point to talk about it on the day it happened every year" or "don't make jokes about it because being uptight, sad, and serious is the only way to deal with it."
People are gonna crack jokes about it, first off it's a great way to deal with grief, second off being serious about shit all the time is lame, especially when it's relatively in the past.

So sorry brahs, I'm gonna post my :septemberlol: and make jokes about Asians shooting up my college campus all I want.

its funny because osama bin laden was our ally.

and many other reasons.

and the fact that american imperialism is the cause of such things, yet our answer is more of the same.

Re: September 11, 2001 [Re: jewunit]

reverence for a catastrophe or death is self-indulgent crap, and when I find someone (IRL) who feels the same way that AG Tek and a few others do, I then really try to offend them.
I took some LSD at about 5pm the day before 9/11 and as I was laying down to try and sleep, a friend busted down my door exclaiming that the WTC was hit by two planes.
The first thing me and my buddies did was smoke a bowl and try to get a drop on the 9/11 jokes.

Just because someone finds comedy in that which you find sadness doesnt make you a more caring person, nor does it make them an asshole.
Everyone wants to connect themselves in some way to a tragedy, because people like drama.... perfect example is this thread: you guys could have let the Smiley go without derailing the thread, but you wanted to assert yourself, mood and opinions, onto the actions of other people.

Another problem I have with the "No laugh zone" people, is that they believe death is relative. Somehow, in their mind, a person dying from a jet ski accident is less morose and serious than a person dying in 9/11. Death is death... I want to ask the "no laugh zone" people, how many times have you snickered at the Darwin Awards?

so yeah, like someone said in the first few posts, get over yourselves.
