I've got tons of Sassafras trees...does anybody like them?

I make tea with them all the time...

Anybody know about their medical properties?

My grandpa said they cure colds...

I used to make sassafras tea all the time when I was a kid up North. We would sit around the campfire and drink it, good stuff. Do you know how far south they can grow? I was under the impression that they need a winter cold spell to do well. If I could grow one in South Florida I would be interested.

Safrole is also commonly used by clandestine laboratories to synthesize various hallucinogenic drugs such as MDA (3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine), MDMA (Ecstasy), and MDEA (Eve). :eek:

The tea is excellent with a little honey.  It used to be a lot more popular back in the day, but then someone fed a shitload to rats and they got cancer.  Next thing you know sassafras tea is BAD for you.  I figure with all the stuff out there thats gonna give me cancer, a few cups of sassafras tea are the least of my worries.
