Tyvek & PolyFil Lid...Are they both necessary?
    #7377303 -

Hello friends. Uber noob here but I'm comin up quite fast. I'm working with 12 x .5pt RG Jars inoculated and 0 contamination so far. Started with B+ print on PDAgar plates with great success. I had already PC'd and inoc'd by the time I signed up on this forum so my jars are completely sealed. I know FAE is extremely important but is it life or death? I'm on week one and myc growth seems nice and healthy. With my next batch I most defintely will use filtered lids. One question tho...Are Tyvek AND Polyfil mandatory or can I use one or the other? Also I got some of those nifty Priority envelopes from our generous post office...Am I supposed to be able to breath thru them? Not sure if I got the right kind. They look like the exact same kind as I see in the pictures and I'm sure they are Tyvek. Will post pics at the end of the first batch.

I can't answer any of your questions but I also used the nifty link to order the tyvek envelopes from the USPS and I have no earthly idea how you're suppose to use them, when you find out please let me know?

Polyfill is definitely enough on its own.

Use one or the other, a lot of peeps just use a thick layer of vermiculite. I prefer polyfill but iv never found a good source of tyvek here in the uk. polyfill is used for stuffing teddy bears so is easy to find.
