rye colonizing. bulk substrate ? * 1

my rye jars are going to be ready to use by sunday.

i have a lot of them.

there is not much in the faq about bulk substrates.

how far will one quart jar of rye go?

how much substrate do you spawn with the rye.

ratios.

i know some people use like 70-30 straw to shit.

but how much rye ml? how much substrate?

1 qt. of colonized rye spawn will innoculate 4 filter patch bags of substrate quite nicely.

What are you planning to spawn with that rye? Colonized grain can be spread pretty thin but you will get much faster colonization with a high ratio of grain to bulk sub. There is really no way to overdo your grain ratio...It is just a little wasteful. IMO I would use a high ratio (as much as 50/50) of spawn (grain) for my first try at bulk substrate. -OR- If I had lots of colonized grain like you said, take some of the jars and just case the grain itself. Cased rye produces some potent fun guys, hombre.
