bulk substrate

I am thinking of using a more bulk substrate method of colonizing whole grain rye.
How about the implementation of whole grain rye in oven bags which have been sterilized.
then using colonized rye to colonize this new sterile substrate?
has anyone attempted this, or is there any reason it would/would not work?

wouldn't, grain contaminates real easily. innoculating straw with colinized grain is ok, but not more grain.

ok, i wasn't too sure what the deal with that would be.
i fruit my colonized rye in 8x8" cake pans.
what about taking 1/5 of a colonized 1qt jar, and colonizing the sterile rye substrate directly in the cake pan, and placing this in the incubation chamber? or am i going to have to continue on with the ever-tedius jars.
i'm trying to find a way around the jars, with something disposable. like 50 cent tin pans :)
btw, howcome straw isn't as easily contam'd as rye?
is this the subst. you use?
Thanks again.

shaw you obviously dont know what you are talking about in this post. grain to grain is fine, it works great, works fast. just don't do it forever.
and cookiewhore, do not mix uncolonized rye with the colonized rye in an unsterile environment (aka your casing) take your colonized jar, and 4 uncolonized jars of rye and and in your glove box (since you posted somewhere else that you have one) split the 1 colonized jar into the 4 uncolonized jars (or oven bag, but thats a little riskier) , then shake, then wait a few days and shake again, in a week or so you should 4 jars (or your oven bag) ready to go. might need a little more time depending on the amount of rye used and colonization temps.
