Straw works great. It is the only tek for me. If you are comfortable with growing, get a big 55gal rubermaid and follow shroomgods tek. With a casing that big you won't have to always have a batch going and you can cut out a contam and not loose much square footage.

Straw is amoung the best bulk substrates. I've heard useing A 25%-50% raitio of pws / horse dung is preferable. This seems to help stave of the contaims after a few weeks time. Dung provieds a more nutrienct, nicely sturctured substrate. Grab a 30 gal container and run the bulk substrate throughout the bottom to a depth of 6 in to 1ft. Expect yeilds of 2-4 wet pounds per sq ft.
A good friend of mine that lives in Japan reports to me that his spawn run of Pan Cayn's are nearly ready. He was asking me if I thought 6 pints of millet and brown rice would agressivly collinize 1 cubit sq ft. After the substrate collinizes he cases with 50/50+. He would like to use coco husks but has yet to find them in Japan. He has asked me if I could get some coco for him. Anybody have sugestions?
My buddy says his set up is fairly simple. He just fans and mist's 3 time a day unitl his caseing has reached it's saturation point. shortly after the pins start a coming and you can expect prolific flushes. You will see nice fruitbodies with a bulk substrate like this. So I have heard anyways. What have you heard?

u could try looking at a hydroponics store for that coco. I know most of them have cocotek, which is a very rich potting medium. It comes in bricks, but expands in water to like 6 times its size. .

Excellent results, as long as your straw is good quality. I Don't have pics, but a beginner I know did her first bulk spawn with straw only, and they were the biggest/best she ever grew. The container was just too big for her house, but if you have the room....go for it.
