Traveller's Tips to Making Money while on the Road?

Just curious if anyone had any good tips to earning up money while travelling.  Just some extra pocket change here and there, a spare couple of gallons of gas for working for someone or something, you know?  Maybe I could get a rock tumbler and polish stones and shit for hippies while on the road.  I'll be on the west coast.

Any good suggestions are appreciated. :smile:

I'm a waiter at a nice restaurant. I serve tables food. I make pretty decent in tips. I am saving up money for this road trip, but sometimes it's nice to be able to not deplete your resources as fast as you possibly can. Food for two weeks is expensive.

honestly, it seems like hippies on the west coast would already be inundated with shiny beaded hemp necklaces. but you can try.

are you any good at playing an instrument? if so, do some street corner performing.

what tiny rabid birds said about the hippies having enough hemp gear is probably true. plus they would only trade love and happiness, not $.

street corner performing ftw. dress up like socrates and recite some of his philosophy. i've never seen anything like that but if i did my cheapass would probably throw you a buck.

dude.. pawning away your musical outlet FTL. tsk tsk. i understand though. desperate times call for desperate measures. sucks though. to be completely honest, the only bums i give money to are those that play instruments.

do you know how to juggle? juggle some flaming torches or something. that's impressive. or can you draw? maybe you could do quick caricatures for people.

panhandle, sell crystals, carry a big red gas can and ask people to fill it up for you at petrol stations, or the easiest method:

there are no tours going on right now, really, so it's quite a bit harder to make money while traveling (can't exactly sell dollar beers or veggie burritos on a random street-corner). i'd say wait until fall phil tour starts and then follow my first 4 suggestions

I was hoping for food from hippies, and I could even cook their breakfast for them. :o

I'm 21 and I can do labor. Maybe I can find some guy working in the fields and be like, Here man, you toke on this, I'll do your work, and at the end of the day you give me a good meal and some cash.

if you don't want to travel constantly but just want a job somewhere else, go to nor-cal, make a sign out of cardboard that looks like a pair of scissors and write "need work" on it... get yourself a job trimming for the season, & at the end of it, reinvest most of what you made in what you were trimming, and then head to the east coast and make 5-10X
