Randal, I wish you hadn't gotten involved with these posts and just read them

you had a great setup from the starting post but fucked this whole thread up by getting defensive/asking for evidence

QFfuckingT

I was gonna post this comment.. but someone already did. "Tell me how you feel, don't hold back, so I can get defensive!"

Ridiculous thread. Americans have so much to prove.

Dumbass. These people have every right to say stuff and I have every right to respond. I considered my comments as mere attempts at rebuttal and not "defensive" at all. I was merely encouraging discussion on the matter.

it seems like other countries think we believe our own media. no one here believes any of it anymore than you do. nor do we believe any the propaganda because we pay the price by wathcing our friends and family die in wars no one believes in or supports. they do it because they need a job. no one here believes it.

and where is this lazy thing comming from? i don't know anyone who works less then a 60 hour week. america is working class through and through.

Don't say that KaptKid!  You're getting too "defensive" and you have no right to attempt any rebuttal.

i agree with this statement.

my own thoughts: i see a lot of overweight people here. and it IS a growing epidemic. that cannot be ignored. i am also worried about our youth of today. they are growing up in an increasingly ravenous materialistic society (I lean towards the MTV kids) and that really really scares me. i cringe every time i see a new rap video or the commercials that are selling all this crap to our children. the parents of america need to wake the fuck up.

It's like you can't convince yourself that America is a good country, so you try to convince others of it. Sort of pathetic, really.

Not at all. I merely have noticed a lot of anti-Americanism in the world and amongst foreigners I have met and I wanted to present a forum for the discussion of it. Anybody is allowed to say what they want and I am allowed to respond in any way that I want.

Oh and by the way, nice trolling. Sort of pathetic, really.

Loves Americans, alot of my best friends are, HATE the politics and the voter apathy, but cannot say that we have it any better north of the border.

The change of the guard in 2008 for you and 2007 for us (fall election, following a vote of non-confidence, hmmm on the question of the legality of cannabis??? possible !

Vote for a change and make your country the home of the free again.

I would vote Ron Paul ! in a heartbeat !

Yeah I have a few 'friends' over there and they say it's really nice. As long as I'm not American then I'm fine, apparently they love the odd aussie.

Honestly, most Americans are okay. However, sometimes you come across the all-American type that are rude, racist and disrespectful. Those are the kind I have no respect for and wish to have wiped from the face of the earth.

Very interesting thread and comments. I grew up living in America, but I have since moved out of the country. I now live in a tourist destination and I see people from all over the world, literally, every single day. Being fascinated by this sort of thing, I spend a lot of time just sitting and watching people interact with one another. A few things that I have noticed:

1) The "fat American" stereotype is highly exaggerated. I see a pretty even mix between fat Americans and fat non-Americans. However, American children seem to be much more fat than their non-American counterparts.

2) The "rude American" stereotype is highly exaggerated. Based upon my definition of rude, the folks from Indonesia, Malaysia, etc win here. Nine times out of ten, if somebody doesn't close a door, doesn't turn off a light when done, walks to the front of a line without waiting, or jaywalks in traffic, it is one of these folks.

3) The "dumb American" stereotype is ... well... maybe accurate. Nine times out of ten, if I see somebody doing something stupid, such as walking backwards into moving traffic trying to get better framing for their picture, it is an American. (If somebody doesn't understand English, speaking louder doesn't help them understand.)

The big problem I have seen with Americans is that they don't realize that the entire world isn't part of the United States. Most American's have never visited a foreign country, and never will. They expect the world to be just like them, and the world, in turn, resents them.

I live here. I know and have met tons of great people. Even in the south, you can't beat their hospitality when your in the hands of the right people. Sure, I run into dumbass people a lot. But the ironic thing about it is, out of all the traveling I have done in the US, the rudest people I have ever met have been the foreigners(I can't say this about mexicans).
