theres this crazy ass app. that supposidly uses noises through headphones to change your frequency in your brain. I tried the Acid one and it made me feel weird....thats right they have different ones...i dunno havent really checked it out to much/I have all of the dif. sounds for each one on my comp. if anyone is interested I will email them to u

I too get those ear tones anytime I stop and relax a bit, try to go to sleep, or just stop and "look" for them. The only time I don't hear them is when I'm busy not noticing but otherwise they're always there. Sometimes they will be asymmetric, coming more from one ear than the other, but generally they are inside my head, precisely in the middle of it.

They can get really debilitating on any kind of tryptamine such that it is hard not to get an uncomfortable trip just because of them. Good pot after a period of sobriety will do that too.

For the paranoid type, try a Faraday cage (basically a sealed metal box) and see if you hear them inside. A Faraday cage will block every electromagnetic waves such that inside the cage the electromagnetic field is identically zero. I've been in one used in physics labs for EM noise suppression and the ear tone could be heard just as loud. I guess nobody's after controlling my mind.

I'm pretty sure in my case they are permanent hearing damage. I would do anything to have them stop :frown:

I have been experiencing a rather LOUD tone in my left ear since April of 07 and I found it interesting what was posted 10/4/04 by you regarding the reasons for tones happening. One thing you said was that it is to bring the two hemispheres of the brain together - EXACTLY what I have been studying for the last 5 months!

Thanks for shedding some light on this for me!

tinnitus can occur in both ears. Someone earlier said that it only happens in the left, Im not sure where that bullshit was gathered, but it is wrong. just check any credible source of information.

all the "ear tones" are merely tinnitus, nothing more. I have no idea why such a ridiculous thing would be considered spiritual in any way and anyone trying to explain it for any other reason really has no idea how an ear works.

I used to discount anything spiritual as well - however there are a few other things I have to consider. The toning began during an process I was doing to stimulate my pineal gland, a spiritual exercise of sorts. I was toning with my voice to cause the pineal to vibrate and within minutes the tone began in my left ear. The onset was sudden. I have heard that tinnitus is associated with ringing, not toning, have you heard different?

The pineal has nothing to do with the auditory cortex.

Besides, if you think you can selectively vibrate a tiny mushy part of the brain embedded in a much larger mushy brain, someone has sold you some swampland. :rolleyes:

It never fails to amaze me the nonsense new age mumbo jumbo people come up with.

The idea that some people are left brained and others are right brained was discredited some time ago.

But it doesn't surprise me that new age mumbo jumbo books still harp on this misinformation because the gullible blind sheep that buy these books never bother to look things up for themselves.

Blind sheep have always been wonderful marketing targets.

Google is your friend, and it will benefit you if you use it to check up on any warm and fuzzy new age mumbo jumbo someone made up before you believe it:

Brain Myth #2: A person’s personality displays a right-brain or left-brain dominance.

Fact: The two sides are intricately co-dependent.

This myth holds that a right-brain person is generally creative, intuitive, artsy, while a left-brain person is more of a problem-solver, more linear, logical. The myth arose from genuine science, but new imaging technology has shown that the brain is more interdependent than once thought.

The myth probably took root in the 1800s, when scientists discovered that an injury to one side of the brain often caused a loss of specific abilities. For example, spatial abilities seemed to reside in the right side of the brain, with language in the left. The myth gained ground in the 1960s, when scientists studied epilepsy patients who had surgery to sever the connection between the two hemispheres. These researchers showed that when they couldn’t communicate, the two sides of the brain could be unaware of one another—and even respond differently to stimuli. For example, when one patient was asked what he wanted to do, his left brain responded with “draftsman” but his right brain with “automobile racer.”

But more recently, brain scan technology has revealed that the hemispheres’ roles are not quite so cut-and-dried as once thought. The two hemispheres are in fact highly complementary. For example, language processing, once believed to be left- hemisphere-only, is now understood to take place in both hemispheres: the left side processes grammar and pronunciation while the right processes intonation. Similarly, experiments have shown that the right hemisphere does not work in isolation with regard to spatial ability: the right hemisphere seems to deal with a general sense of space, while the left hemisphere deals with objects in specific locations.

What remains true is that the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and vice versa. What this means is that an injury to the left side of the brain (such as a left-hemisphere stroke) can cause damage to the other side of the body (such as right-leg paralysis).

So, essentially, the "mumbo jumbo" notions were based upon contemporary science that was only recently disproven, and the flow of information throughout humanity, especially through the vast majority of humans who do not read scientific journals, is such that the notion is to immediately change as well? :what:

It sounds like an honest misunderstanding on the part of those who had adopted a view that was held by the scientific community for quite some time. I'm not certain the necessity, in light of this understanding, of the assertions regarding "warm and fuzzy new age mumbo jumbo someone made up". :confused:

I was referring to the new age mumbo jumbo nonsense that humming can selectively vibrate your pineal gland. That's what started this whole exchange.

So just to clarify, you do not believe that someone can be left or right brain dominant either? That is what I was ultimately referring to. I am aware of the information offered in your last post but it does not mean that someone cannot be more dominant logically or artistically (in the simplest form).

This has nothing to do with belief. It's what has been discovered by neurological science.

You're talking about issues of psychology and personality, not of right brain and left brain. There is only one brain in a healthy person.

Okay, if that helps you to look at as psycology or personality - do you believe that one can psycologically or in accordance with personality characteristics be more left brained or right brained dominant? Have you heard or read the book titled Focusing the Whole Brain by Ronald Russell?

You're not getting me.

No one is left brained. No one is right brained. All healthy people are one-brained.

You can't scan someone's brain and say "AHA! this guy is left-brained".

The left/right brain thing is a myth. A myth!

Just like another myth that we only use 10% of our brain. It's all bullshit made up by people who don't have a clue but who want to sell new age books.
