That's some dope shit right there, Ind. I'll be checking out more of them.

There are so many sub-genres of "trance" it's almost pointless to say you either like it or hate it. Like Coda said, there's good and bad. I lean toward psy-trance and goa myself, stuff like Shpongle and Hallucinogen. The dance-trance crap is what riles me, unless it's someone like Prodigy, who takes it somewhere too weird not to enjoy. That generic trance recorded specifically for clubs is the most derivative, uninspired drivel on the planet, and that throbbing 4/4 beat gives me a headache after 20 minutes. It makes country music appealing by comparison - and I don't mean good country either, I mean New Country, the second-most insipid garbage on the airwaves.

I love goa/psytrance when it's melodic.  But sometimes towards the middle of the party it'll just be a bunch of whistles and weird noises that doesn't sound like music at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of goa/psy. It's just that while there's a lot of good stuff out there, there's also a lot of noisy crap as well.

Eew, I'm not a fan of noise either.

I take Goa music I like and stick it in Sound Forge, then carefully edit out the noise parts so that you can't tell it was edited. Those are the files I load the MP3 player with when I host rolling parties here.

I don't think Ozric Tentacles is what I'd call 'trance'
more psychedelic electronic rock or something.

When I ythink trance I think 'doof doof with raging synths and marhing-style riffs.

I really like the feel that Ozric has achieved though, it is truly unique
