i thought john from cincinnati was hugely corny, ill admit i only watched like half an episode, but the critics didnt like it, i thought the characters and the actors were corny, overall id have to say youll never get me to watch that show again...im not sayin no one should watch it, im just sayin it had no appeal to me

i like other HBO series though, the Wire is my favorite, blows the sopranos out of the water if you ask me (and im from where they filmed  pretty much the whole thing, so theres no bias), the sopranos was sorta weird, they always brought up characters and plot lines and then never resolved or revisited them again, like the sexual tension between tony and lorrane bracco?  or when they shot that russian guy in the woods and he got away, but the issue never came up again?  they definately focus more on the darkly comical aspect of being a new jersey mobster more than making the plots converge into anything other than a killing or a beating.  not to say i didnt like it, it just didnt compare to the wire in my opinion.  the wire on the other hand goes so in depth with the characters that i think youd have a hard time not liking it, you really get to know the different players in baltimore's drug war, and see how similar the characters on the opposing sides are so similar, plus the plots are so interwoven and complex i feel that its just a more rewarding show to watch

also i have to advocate the HBO series Rome.  anyone interested in this period of history will like it alot, its very detailed and very accurate while explaining the political climate really well, and still has alot of sex and violence, the staple of any good show :smirk:  and the characters are awesome, pullo and vorenus must kill an average of at least 8-10 people an episode....only thing is that it gets a lil complicated at times, if your not too familiar with the political figures of the era (caesar, pompei, cicero, etc) and cause its more politically based, theres more talking, but thats ok......i always think its funny that whenever a high quality show about ancient rome comes out, all the actors have british accents...the romans would have sounded alot more like italians than brits, but thats ok. one last thing about Rome, i heard they spent almost 300 million making the first season, and it looks expensive, too

in conclusion: watch the first few episodes of rome and the wire, both are awesome and addictive

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein

i'm surprised nobody mentioned the HBO show "Deadwood" I saw a number of episodes (although not the whole series) and enjoyed what I saw. Lots of swearing. And guns. And whores. Nice.

I'm newly into the BBC show called Torchwood.... kind of a spin-off of the new Doctor Who series.

Pre-John Dogget X-Files rocked. The show jumped the shark when Mulder left, in my opinion.

I remember being in DARE when i was much younger and some of the stories they would tell you are not only ridiculous, but completely untrue. One story was that a woman was on LSD and thought her infant was a turkey so she baked it in the oven. Now I look back and think thats hilarious, but at the time I guess it scared me.

Like I said, the final episode made me cry. I don't know if I have every cried because of a TV show... Maybe as a kid!
