Yo how do you keep your spray paint from running down when your painting on a wall? I was spray painting a dumpster and the paint kept dripping down. How do those pros keep it from running?

I wouldn't know....but I think your putting to much paint on if its running much :wink:

are you using tips on the can?

i think using the proper tip has a lot to do w/ it.

and.. when doing a big wall, i think a lot of people prime the wall first..

It sounds like your holding the can to close to the surface. I usually just go and by some fat caps:shrug:

Yeah man you need a strip of caps. That and you need to know the medium. You need to know how much paint to use to cover the surface without saturating it. Most guys don't go heavy, they keep adding paint lightly. So they don't run and don't use to much paint. Paint isn't cheap.

get some tips if you want.. they're not going to make you any better though so keep that in mind  :mrt:

pay attention to the distance from the surface and the presssure in the can.  if you're trying to take your time and paint some pretty graffiti coloring book type shit you can drain the pressure in the can by pressing the nozzle down while holding the can upsidedown.  do this for a little while and you will really notice a difference in how the paint comes out.. this is almost a necessity for blending colors and getting the fades right.

when you go to catch your tag, make sure that your wrist is angled the same way throughout your whole motion and that you're not just whisping shit around and barely moving your arm.  this is probably the most common mistake kids make when coming up.  once you get that down, you can start to play with the flares by adding a larger tip and playing with the distances from the wall and the angle of your wrist..

Respecting the city is a big part.  Graffers get a bad rap, and are looked at in a bad light because they often do destroy historical land marks.  I say if you got a message to write put it down.  Let the writing be on the wall, it is free speech.  Put a real message out.  Make something beautiful while you can.
