They smell and taste a little like dirt!
Not like a typical mushroom smell/taste.

One time when I was doing some demo on an old back porch there was this rotton wood that had a really pundgent wet dirt smell, that's what afoaf's closet smells like when she's growing mushies. When they dry she finds they have just about no smell, maybe a little like dirt.
Yes, you can mess shroomies up while drying them. If you use heat they can loose alot of their potency. If dried too slowly shrooms can rot and give you a nasty stomach ache. Afoaf just uses a box fan to dry hers and has never had either of these problems.

For some reason the guy who grow them here seems to keep them rather big and completely white! No bruising at all
