Free source of Tyvek for filters
    #530380 - 01/24/02 05:42 PM (23 years, 6 days ago)

My brother noticed the other day that some USPS Priority mail envelopes are made out of Dupont Tyvek. I think this is the same stuff Anno tried in his experiment. If you want to try it out the USPS will send you all the free envelopes you want.

I know you can't possibly think that shroom growers are gonna put that much pressure on the USPS that they'll increase prices. I don't even use tyvek. I don't even use filters at all. I don't even grow shrooms. My best friend does. He just loosens the lids of his jars a bit and everything goes perfectly. He has never had any contamination problems ever. I was just looking out for the newbies here that keep getting sold kits and filters and other shit that they don't need. I'm sure most people feel they've spent enough on shroom supplies. If they can find something for free that works just as good as something that needs to be purchased, I think they'll go for it. And, have you checked on your karma level lately? You're the one calling names and selling people things they don't even need to grow mushrooms.

So you're saying that I "struck" you in my post and that I deserved to be called an "ass"? And you're also saying that my original post is "BS"?

My post was intended to help. And it did. Did you read the replies to my post? All of the vendors you listed in your previous post are fantastic! You included. I just wanted people to know that if they wanted to try Anno's Tyvek Filter tek, then they could get some from the Post Office. I just don't see how my original post is that threatning. I had no idea how much Tyvek cost when I posted. I just noticed that those envelopes were made of Tyvek and I posted the fact. That's it...

As for the comparison you listed...That proves nothing except that you've taken the money of innocent people selling them filters they don't need. I'm not talking about vendors who sell spores and other neccessary stuff. That's perfectly fine and most people wouldn't be able to grow if it weren't for them. My hat goes off to them.

My friend has never had contamination and never had a jar of rye berries or finch seed take longer than 12 days to fully colonize. Less in many cases when the temperature can be kept optimum. Just loosen the lid and set the box of jars in a closet and walk away. No filters.

I'm sorry. It just frustrates me to see how much money people spend on stuff they don't need. Mainly kits!

Take care,

bassplayer74
