Using Tyvek envelopes for filter discs

When using Tyvek envelopes found at the post office or other mail type places I noticed it has a small amount of post consumer recycled paper in it is this paper a problem? or is it recycled tyvek? in other words will this get the job done? I can double,triple and triple double up the layers so thickness is not an issue. So far it seems to work great or just as good as any filter disc any advice from expereience? Thanks!

i am not sure but i think anno just recently did an experiment using tyvek filters. check her posts and see if she has posted the results yet.

I just did a batch of finch seed in quart jars yesterday. I used one layer of Tyvek from an envelope. I have one pencil sized hole in the lid. I'll post results in a few days. If I forget will someone please PM me and remind me...Thanks....bassplayer74
