spore print recovery effort

OK over a year ago i took some massive prints on paper i never got all the spores off. a lot still stuck to it. Through my carelessness i lost the strain but still have the paper with two big purple stains on it. Is there a way possible for me to get the spores off to recover this strain? Any Idea's at all. Please
PS. these spores are REALLY inbedded in the paper!! Scraping won't do it

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago.

Here are two methods that worked for me.

1. Take half of one of your prints and soak it in a petrie dish with about 10cc's of sterile water for 24hrs, then make a syringe with the solution. You will have use just a couple of drops of the solution on some agar on several petries to try and isolate some good mycellium.

2. From the remaing half of the print, cut some 1/4" squares from it and place them print side down on agar. Do about 8 or 10 petries this way. After 24hrs, remove the paper from half of them... if either dish type strts to grow, you can then start to isolate to new petries again.

It's STP's "THAI Stain" that's why i don't want to just replace it. I won't buy from him again!! Thank's i'll try it. Also this wasn't exactly in sterile keeping i just never got around to throwin it out so hopefully i can sector it away from any contam as well.

If you don't think the print is sterile, remove all the paper chips in method 2... it will increase your chances.
