Sunday at 4 pm EST I will sit for one hour in meditation.

D, silent-mind meditation is a meditation that a Lama at my dad's center tried to teach.  One sits with one's right hand in the palm of one's left hand, with thumbs touching and pointing upward; the hands meet below the navel.  You sit with back straight, eyes open, and facing down along the line of the nose, and let your mind be silent.  You don't force your thoughts away, but let them float out of your head like water over the edge of a cup.  Anyway, I don't think this particular technique is that important; I'm sure many hear have techniques which have suited them well for a long time.  Whatever works!


I think you just described zazen! The cosmic mudra, the position, the attitude of mind...I'll do it!

i ended 15 minutes early

deep stretching is really needed before sitting meditation, the right leg has lost its circulation twice now.

wandering mind very much, lots of thoughts about girls, envisioning myself teaching them yoga, thinking about those sorts of things. good meditation though.

Oops, I forgot it was supposed to be an hour, so I just did my usual 45 minutes of sitting meditation. But I'll just continue with everyday, active meditation.

That's the way to go. :thumbup:  I have become better lately about sitting with myself for at least a while every day.

Leery, I had the same circulation problem as you.  I ended a bit early as well and did hatha yoga up until about 3 minutes ago.

i was doing taichi up until about the same time you stopped doing yoga.

Since I don't normally meditate, I spent the last 20 mins in silence on my bed. It's like I'm searching for something better to occupy my time with. Only thing I could think about was who am I. I had a better vision of that question with my eyes open for I could see objective reality around me. I use to believe in a form of reincarnation, where when we once were, we shall be again.

So for 20 mins in silence isn't bad, maybe later i'll try for 30 mins in silence.
