Could we all meditate together?
    #7171197 -

Is anyone up for joining me in meditation on, say, Sunday at 4pm EST?

I've heard some anecdotes about group meditation having an effect on the overall wellbeing of individuals and communities, though I don't know whether it can be demonstrated statistically.

Just thought it would be interesting to have all the P&S people co-ordinate a time to sit and practice silent-mind meditation at once, for half an hour or an hour, and see how it affects the community in the following hours and days.

Namaste

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Meditation is good. It will affect each individual who meditates, and then there will be effects on the community when people begin to post about it.

what's silent-mind meditation?

I'm down, i haven't really meditated in the longest time.

I try but don't really get anything from it...

Maybe I shouldn't try so hard...

Sunday, 4 PM Est. I'm THERE!

Peace,
Droz

it seems to me that meditation is a lone-experience

meditating "with" others seems to be a contradiction of terms

while FTG(fire the grid) espouses lofty principles of love and peace, I'm going to remain HIGHLY skeptical of a)anyone that asks me to do anything b)anyone that has any contact with "aliens" or "light-beings"

Definitely not. Have you ever done seated meditation with a group of people? There is definitely a group energy that permeates the meditation that is simply not there when you meditate alone. Meditating with others is a very powerful experience. Instead of relating to others behind the veils of your conditioning, you're there with them on a much deeper level.

Yes.

It is like singing alone vs in a choir.

i recomend next lunar eclipse we all chose a time and a track to play at the same time and meditate on the moon at the same time. your idea for a group meditation is a good idea, however by having us all focus on the same object (the moon) with the same stimulus (the music) we may all reach the same level.

Sunday at 4 pm EST I will sit for one hour in meditation.

D, silent-mind meditation is a meditation that a Lama at my dad's center tried to teach.  One sits with one's right hand in the palm of one's left hand, with thumbs touching and pointing upward; the hands meet below the navel.  You sit with back straight, eyes open, and facing down along the line of the nose, and let your mind be silent.  You don't force your thoughts away, but let them float out of your head like water over the edge of a cup.  Anyway, I don't think this particular technique is that important; I'm sure many hear have techniques which have suited them well for a long time.  Whatever works!
