Wondering about compost...

...and Agaricus bisporous. Do i have to use compost for that mushroom or is there another method? I was wondering what is the cultivation method of Stamets in his book...

you should grow it on compost, but you alternatively you can use cased rye, but the yield will be much lower...
perhaps just a mix of dung and straw could do the trick!

I have read that you can use rice straw as well for buttons. Dont know about you but rice straw can not be had where I am.
