Holy shit....I am eating some raw pedro as I eat this and this shit is terrible. I better have a wild ride after paying a price like this :-) Anyway....anyone have any good suggestions on how to swallow this shit without the gag reflex? Thanks for any suggestions...Chemkid

Pedro is kind of in the middle of the base/acid scale, which is my only theory on eating nasty shit. So I don't got a suggestion.

Actually...you are wrong about the pH scale. This is a very alkaline substance so it is basic (pH > 7) so I am pouring lemmon and lime juice on it which helps my stomach but not the taste. Thanks for replying. Chemkid

Yeah...7 is the middle...that is the pH of water not basic or acidic thats why my last post said the pH is above 7 which means it is basic. That is why they call mescaline an alkaloid because it's alkaline (basic) full of amine groups (nitrogen). I am a talented biochemist but an inexperienced user of raw pedro so if you have any ideas or friends that know I would be grateful for your help :-)

now that you ask like that, let me get on the phone! I never found a recipe, and is been about 2 years since I last ate pedro. then we just ate it raw, drank it in shots, or mixed shots with slurpee, but I did'nt like the slurpee mix.

A talented biochemist should surely have no problem extracting dehydrated pedro in a soxhlet, then doing a simple acid/base extraction to get the desired alkaloids out.

Not sure but the cacti pH is probably above 7, anyway why dont you try drying the cacti and once that is done try powdering it then just use some rizla paper and make some make some raps or go and look for some OO gelcaps.

The san pedro syrup method works well.

Another modification is to keep boiling down until it reaches a toffee/treacle consistency
Coat in cornflour to make the sticky residue managable (or BRF if you only have that handy).
Roll into balls about marble size.
swallow your desired doage.

This method is totally tastless no bitterness as the balls are swallowed whole.
