Powdering fresh to dry?

Could one simply powder his fresh shrooms to dry them out. Just chuck a few in the coffee grinder, then lay the sludge/powder in the grinder out to dry. Or even better, let them sit infront of a fan for 12-24 hours, then grind them to a powder and dry?

Anyone done this before? I imagine the powder would be much more thouroughly dried out than a whole mushroom, especially for one who doesn't know where to find silicia gel.

Grinding them would expose more psilocybin to oxidization and make you lose alot of the potency.

Oxidation occurs more quickly when they're wet. Dry them first, then grind if you want.

Plenty of people grind without potency loss, but don't make a slurry unless you're going to use it right away.

Ahh ok. I should stay away from powdering then unless i'm going to eat straight after. Will drying them infront of a fan/open air for 24-48 hours, be drying enough then. Cause i've searched the local supermarkets and none have dessectant.

Tried this in a coffee grinder to add them
to yogurt. Result=disgusting and a mess commpared
to fully dried cubes.

I used to dry open air with a fan and it took a couple of days.
So I tried this. I took a fan and put in in a high kitchen cabinet
(heat rises duh!) so it was warm dry air up there,
and put the cubes on a cookie sheet lined with paper
towels in said cabinet. Closed it up and cut my drying time in half.

As I said, it works, just not well at all. :P I've had shrooms get mold waiting for damp rid to work.

Unless you live in a rainforest, the "eat a whole bunch of fresh ones while your others dry on a box fan tek" should be ample.
