Interesting. I'm not sure what to say regarding that. I know I'm introverted though. :grin: Maybe within the realm of introverts I am more extroverted? :tongue:

I would definitely be interested in more understanding regarding compatability as well. I did some light searching but found nothing but stupid relationship sites with fees.

I'm waiting for Markos to happen upon this thread. :headbang:

Out of consideration for Orgone Conclusion's sensibilities I think we should all pass our scorecards forward by one to see if they're exactly the same. But first, just to be orderly about it, let's organize ourselves into rows according to type.

Unfortunately, the Kiersey tests are not as accurate as the 150 item MBTI. I am a dyed-in-the-wool INTP, and so is my Lady (2-3% of the population, and Carl Jung's type) but the Kiersey measure has labelled me an INTJ. I am definitely not an INTJ. The MBTI used to be on-line, but it is a copyrighted psychological instrument available only to licensed mental health professionals. I administered about 1000 MBTIs in grad school as a grad assistant to a Jungian analyst, and my recommendation is to take the Kiersey measures as an approximation. If it doesn't exactly seem like you, read the descriptions and select. I think the P-J function might be the weak test measure (it was for me) whereas the I-E, S-N and T-F are perhaps more obvious.

I think introverts are not "blocked" people... they are just looking for other people with whom they feel they connect more which in extent makes them look like "outsiders". I really don't feel like an outsider, I love people but I just feel like communicating with few :shrug:. I see nothing wrong with that... it saves me of lots of discussions without a real purpose :smile:.

I noticed the publication said only about 2% of the population was but the poll here showed 30%. It fit me pretty well. Veritas' link did as well.

This is the distinction between extrovert and introvert, IMO.  If you find interactions with others to be energizing, and do not feel the lack of alone time, you are an extrovert.  If you find interactions with others to be draining, and need time alone to recharge, you are an introvert.

I would guess that extroverts are generally underrepresented on internet discussion boards, thought.  :wink:  IRL, most people are extroverts.


Actually, in American real life the majority of the population is extroverted. I did like what you said about the subjective effects of energizing vs. draining, but in a strictly Jungian sense, the Introvert's orientation is for psychic energy to attend more to the inner world while the extraverted orientation is for psychic energy to move more to the outer world. There are extremes of both orientations which makes for very unbalanced people. There is the shy, quiet, retiring bookworm (let's say normal, not suffering from Avoidant Personality Disorder or some such malady) and you have the 'Hey, Hey, Hey!,' back-slapping, loud, body-painted football fan.

As INTPs, we'd rather remain home and read on Saturday night then go to parties where people (late 20s and up) are just gonna drink, or act sophomoric, or play party games. Typical of Introverted Thinking types, we'd much prefer social interaction during which we can discuss ideas. My Lady was a government major at Cornell and still enjoys political discussions, whereas I am apolitical, but we both enjoy philosophical, metaphysical, spiritual discussions with others. We are true to our type, (which is apparently highly represented at The Shroomery), but in the larger population (especially shallow Miami), we are unfortunately, social isolates. We exercise regularly, but we put machines in our house so that we don't have to travel to a gym. We'd rather light the whole house with candles and colored votives, burn some Tibetan incense, play Pink Floyd, get psychedelic and enjoy another couple's company rather than go to a hip hop drinking, dancing party. These choices, again, are purely typological.
