INTJ - "mastermind"

Of the four aspects of strategic analysis and definition, it is the contingency planning or entailment organizing role that reaches the highest development in Masterminds. Entailing or contingency planning is not an informative activity, rather it is a directive one in which the planner tells others what to do and in what order to do it. As the organizing capabilities the Masterminds increase so does their inclination to take charge of whatever is going on.

It is in their abilities that Masterminds differ from the other Rationals, while in most of their attitudes they are just like the others. However there is one attitude that sets them apart from other Rationals: they tend to be much more self-confident than the rest, having, for obscure reasons, developed a very strong will. They are rather rare, comprising no more than, say, one percent of the population. Being very judicious, decisions come naturally to them; indeed, they can hardly rest until they have things settled, decided, and set. They are the people who are able to formulate coherent and comprehensive contingency plans, hence contingency organizers or "entailers."

Masterminds will adopt ideas only if they are useful, which is to say if they work efficiently toward accomplishing the Mastermind's well-defined goals. Natural leaders, Masterminds are not at all eager to take command of projects or groups, preferring to stay in the background until others demonstrate their inability to lead. Once in charge, however, Masterminds are the supreme pragmatists, seeing reality as a crucible for refining their strategies for goal-directed action. In a sense, Masterminds approach reality as they would a giant chess board, always seeking strategies that have a high payoff, and always devising contingency plans in case of error or adversity. To the Mastermind, organizational structure and operational procedures are never arbitrary, never set in concrete, but are quite malleable and can be changed, improved, streamlined. In their drive for efficient action, Masterminds are the most open-minded of all the types. No idea is too far-fetched to be entertained-if it is useful. Masterminds are natural brainstormers, always open to new concepts and, in fact, aggressively seeking them. They are also alert to the consequences of applying new ideas or positions. Theories which cannot be made to work are quickly discarded by the Masterminds. On the other hand, Masterminds can be quite ruthless in implementing effective ideas, seldom counting personal cost in terms of time and energy.

Famous historical figures who were "masterminds" -- Isaac Newton, Nietzsche, Nils Bohr, Peter the Great, John Maynard Keynes, Stephen Hawking, Lise Meitner (who first identified nuclear fission), Dwight Eisenhower and Ayn Rand.

Ummm... how the hell can they say all these folks were "masterminds" or INTJs if the test to determine this didn't exist at the time they were alive? I doubt very much Peter the Great ever took the test, or Isaac Newton either. Hell, probably none of them did with the possible exception of Stephen Hawking. They probably list these famous dudes and dudettes just to make you feel special and to coax you into paying money for the more detailed test.

Can we say SCAM ?

LOL chill dude. If you know a lot about someone's temperament and personality it's pretty easy to see what M-B type they are without taking a test. All you have to think about is whether
1) they're introverted or extroverted
2) they're the 'hands-on' type -- if they're the type that needs to see and touch things for themselves to experience it
3) they're feeling-oriented or logic-oriented
4) they judge things in an absolute sense or if they think all things are relative and subjective.

I've got a 100% accuracy record predicting my friends' types. All you need is to know a lot about the person.

Agreed, I can usually figure out what people are pretty quickly.

Random fact(?): They say Jesus was an INFJ and that Buddha was an INFP.

Simple solution: don't use one of the tests that costs money :smirk:

Max had the right idea: it is quite easy to determine someone's type if you know them well enough.

INTP... I better get back to my programming.

--------------------
To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Meh. I still say the purpose of the "famous figures from history" list is to make you feel all special about yourself and spend some money on their site, but as a dyed-in-the-wool Laissez-faire Capitalist I'll defend to my last breath their right to persuade you to spend your dough.

I must admit the description they gave of the INTJ personality fits me like a tailor-made glove in almost every respect. It's certainly a lot closer than any astrology-based analysis I've ever received (and yes I've had my chart done in full detail by a professional astrologer).

Many sites with free tests and results also mention the "famous figures" of certain types.
