They will be fine as long as you can spot no contams by the time you get the spores. But You'll need your cakes to be getting some air during incubation--and that's what the holes are good for. If your planning on making the holes after you get the spores I would just make sure your nail is steril before puncturing. Just try to be patient next time and make the substrate when you already have the spores, then you wouldn't have to worry about this. :smile:

I think that since that I have plenty of materials left I will just mix up another batch of substrate when my spores get here and that way I can poke the holes in the lid of the jars.
