Thermal Death... Please help!

I did some casings last night (an entire case of pint jars) and put all of them onside of an electric blanket, to speed up colonization. I had not added a casing layer yet. Long story short, I really messed up and the temp got to be around 100% (or more) for a duration of about 8 hours. The crumbled cakes look darker and sort of grey. The smell is strong and not good. I guess I am just looking for some ray of hope, has this ever happened to anyone else before? I am just kind of devastated about the whole thing..

Does anyone think there's any chance that they survived? has anyone ever done this before and had any results at all? Please let me know, I am considering just throwing them all out tonight.

All you can do is wait it out. Keep 'em at 86 (or close) and humid, with plenty of air changes for a couple of weeks and see if anything developes. Considering that you had just knocked up the jars, there's no chance of mycelium being in 'em yet and spores can survive at higher temps than 105, so you still have a good shot.

I'm sorry, I meant to say that the jars were fully colonized at this point and I had already broken them up over wet perlite...

What casing tek says to use perlite???

As a newbie i have tooking these words to heart .....
