Writing an essay over the therapeutic use of psychedelic drugs.

Now I have gathered a few ideas. Like talking about the invention of lsd, the experiences made with the drugs in therapy during the 50s, albert hofmann and his incredible health at age 100, the ridiculous laws for a drug for which the LD-50 is one's own bodyweight (shrooms), and so on...

so what else do you think i should include... remember an essay has to be provocative... any ideas? and thank you, folks!

Can you write your own experiences? If so write about that and how they affected you. Also, no one likes a biased paper make sure you get the good and bad

Maybe touch on the ties to spirituality. Spirituality is a theraputic tool in a sense(i didn't say religion). So if you decide to get into that, talk about the native americans and peyote/mescaline, the tribes in south america and their ayhauscua use(shamanisim, healing, etc).

There's also studies done of some of these tribes in mexico and south america showing how no health risks or concerns have presented themselves through hundreds of years of use.

Then get into the intellectual side of it, from studies done at harvard, past and present(studies are currently underway) to studies done at berkeley. Maybe touch on a few other scientists like Rick Strassman.

thanks guys!

yeah, i'm gonna cover the negative side as well... about the writing out personal experiences, i wanna stay away from that, not because of the teacher i know she is mature enough to understand, but all the essays from the class will be published to the rest of the class and i don't wanna reveal myself as "that kinda guy"... although my topic of choice is kinda obvious hehehehe.

and i'm definitely bringing in spirituality and spiritual uses... and i also have this great study on the use of psychedelics to treat autistic and schizophrenic children... (great read for any psychedelic enthusiast, btw) http://www.maps.org/news-letters/v07n3/07318fis.html

Right now MAPS is sponsoring a study into the use of MDMA to treat war and terrorism-related PTSD. There's a ton of info on their site.

I think currently they are researching therapeutic use of MDMA with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) patients, maybe you could find information about it

almost finished! only thing that's bumming me out, though, is the fact that i'm writing this thing in german and i'd have to translate it to post it here...

i'll let you know what my teache thinks, though...

There was this txt I read about lsd, I think it wa written on the 60's, it was about it uses in therapy and they mentioned the case of this guy in his early 20 that something traumatic happen to him, so his behavior was totally different and couldnt deal with everyday activities. So his parent brought him to some doctor experimenting with lsd for treatment of cases similar to that one.

He was doses a decnt dose, the next day he was new person, and became independant not so lonf after the tratment. It was a total success.

I think I read on erowid.
