I would test the ph of molasses, because the sodium, or salt, might play a role in affecting the ph. Other then that it should work fine.

Are you using honey for liquid mycelium growth? Could you explain that to me?

snoc, I am using honey too, but when I ran out, I decided to give molasses a try. I have a few jars of honey l.m. but this molasses thing is an experiment. I'll post any results here.

Great news.. Less than 48 hours after innoculation there are signs of mycelial growth in my molasses jars!
Although the growth isn't alot, around all the spore flakes that seemed innactive, the mycelium is growing... it seems whispy, at this point, but I'm very happy this is working out. :smile: I haven't shaked it more than 3 times, so maybe its less labor intensive than other l.m. techniques. I'll post further developements soon. :biggrin:
