Another Michigan id
    #6899647 -

Location:Michigan,by a trail along side of a creek, they were almost right on the trail growing out of some leaves.

Cap: The caps were pretty big and bell shaped, but very rounded at the tops. From what i saw it looked like the caps were pretty low to the ground only revealing some of the stem. The color of this shroom was all white, but i would call it more of a "dirty white" with spots of grey all over.

Stem:white

Gills: a light black or a very dark brown

Spore:a darker black

Just ask me if you need more info

Thanks

all white mushroom with almost black gills with short stalky stem points to Agaricus but ya can't really tell at this point. Are you sure the print is black? what is the size of the mushroom in inches? cap and stem. Amanita's have long stems with white gills.

Are you sure they where growing out some leaves or under them, was it mixed mulch I.E dirt twigs grass roots leaves all mixed together. you have to be very specific when it comes to an accurate description for identification. especially with no pics.

Pretty much no chance they are active based on what we know.

Also, do you have a scanner? I am not sure how you would be getting the photos from a disposable camera onto your computer...

"is there any possibility that it is active from the info i gave you? because truthfully that is all i am looking for"

No actives grow in Michigan as I understand it. But their's always lovely looking and possibly tasting fungi in your state.

I hate trying to help kids like you, mushrooms aren't just about seeing funny colors and what the other kids at school say they've done to bee cool, their's complicated processes involved in identifying mushrooms. It's a serious science. So go drink a bottle of cough medicine or I hear their's a Meth epidemic happening write now if you wanna get fucked up.

psilocybe caerulipes is probably very rare in michigan

Psilocybe liniformans var. americana
Psilocybe silvatica .
Panaeolus subbalteatus
Conocybe smithii Watling.
Gymnopilus aeruginosus
Gymnopilus luteofolius
Gymnopilus luteus
Gymnopilus validipes

if you know of any posts on these being found in michigan please post a link because I would like to read them. I'm trying to deture him from looking for only active mushrooms and develop a passion. plus the average summertime temperature's rarely exceed 80 degree's from what I heard when I stayed in Wisconsin. I'm not afraid for you to prove my statement false but do so with links not the World wide distribution of psychoactive species.

I'm sorry i know I am being a little harsh but I'm sick of every one i know asking "Will this one get me fucked up, will that one get me fucked up. Will i trip of this one, what happens if i eat that one" I like to fry up freshly picked mushrooms, and when i pick some with that intention most of the people i know quickly loose interest when finding out my intentions of the ones i just picked, because all they care about is the one that fuck you up. There are a few exceptions, maybe this guy does want to hunt in actives and such but doesn't know it yet, that is my intentions in these postings.

you know, i have to agree with purple but i cant say that i care, i myself think that all mushrooms are great. but some people just prefer actives. but i do think a kid does not belong on this website for finding actives, i know im barely not a kid myself, but i noone i know, my own mother calls me more of an adult than most of america... where was i going with this? nvm lol. oh ok back on track, i think that if you are going to hunt for actives grow a little, learn some patience, and learn to love and RESPECT all mushrooms. not just actives.

lol i just lied to whoever was reading that.....

I am 20 years old(young but i am still an adult), why you assumed i was a kid i dont know. And no i am not just looking to get "fucked up", if you take actives to get "fucked up" or "see funny colors" then you should stay away from psychedelics. I have only taken actives once and i would call it more spritual than anything. Now i enjoy going hunting for all types of mushrooms and looking at them, just like you but at the moment i am looking for actives thats why its in the actives category. If you dont want to help me id than leave your thoughts to yourself because i am asking a question and not asking your personal opinion on my question. Also if i was a kid it would have been EXTREMELY irresponsible for you to say that i should take "cough syrup" where the active ingredient is Dextromethorphan which is a powerful dissociative psychedelic, and is also usually mixed with other ingredients which can be FATAL. You also said Methamphetamine.........do i even need to explain how wrong that was.............

excellent
"anger is more useful than dispare"
I'm glad you have a general interest in mycology, now please tell me more about the mushrooms you found, They just might be some choice edibles.

p.s. What are the temperatures in Michigan as we speak and what as the averages of the seasons. I am curious to know as Wisconsin was bitterly cold.

Here are some agaricus campestris:

Very common mushroom that so far fits your discription.

these are chlorophyllum molybdites, toxic to eat but not life threating:

These next pictures are amanita thiersii, all amanita's grow from a sac-like cup at the base where the mushroom is growing. So dig up the hole thing and see if it has the cuplike bottom. It's known as a volva. regarding the toxicity I have a quote from www.mushroomexpert.com
"Note: Amanita expert Rodham E. Tulloss (2003, Pers. Com.) suspects that A. thiersii contains kidney toxins like those in A. smithiana. Further research may confirm A. thiersii as a deadly poisonous species. (M. Kuo)"

Also what does it smell like? Does it have an appealing odor?
here are some links for more pictures to indentify your mushrooms.

http://www.mushroomexpert.com/agaricus.html
there is a key for agaricus on that page.

Here is a site on mushroom hunting in michigan. They have a list of commonly found mushrooms.
