Haha, Libs and Cubies on wood chips! Whoa!
Actually, I'd forget about Ps. cubensis growing in Michigan. I guess it's possible, but not likely. Hell, some guy here in South Puget Sound says there's a buffalo field full of Ps. cubensis, but they only grow for one week in the fall. ??????????
It's possible for Ps. semilanceata to grow in Michigan. In fact, I've got a handful of guides that list it as growing in PNW, Michigan and the Northeast. Ps. semilanceata is a widespread mushroom that grows in temperate regions all over the world. I believe the same would go for Ps. pelliculosa. Some guides refer this mushroom as the Woodland Liberty Cap. Experienced mushroom hunters such as Mushroom John would disagree that this is a common nickname of Ps. pelliculosa.
Also, I'd bet that one could find Panaeolus subbalteatus and some allies in Michigan. These grow in rotted haystacks as well as dung/hay mixture and possibly in manured lawns, etc.
Some Gymnopilus species can be found in Michigan. They are found growing on rotted logs and sometimes on ground over buried wood.\
Also, don't rule out Ps. caerulipes. It can be found growing on rotted wood and twigs, etc. in wood areas, most commonly close to waters.
Before attempting to hunt any mushrooms, you should visit this site and do some thorough studying, as it is THE most valuable resource for and Psilocybian mushroom hunter found in any text or via the web.

Good luck and remember to take a spore print, as it could save your life.

I was only high-fiving OJ, man.
Yep, Lizard King has found Ps. cubensis growing on wood chips. It's just that OJ and I are PNWesterners and wood-lovers are just about all we see. Generally, it is kind of funny to hear of Ps. cubensis growing on wood chips, but the humor is not intended in mockery of your post, Enter.
You made some good points and I don't think you were misunderstood. Possibly, you mistunderstood us.
Your a brother, Enter, and you won't be made fun of.
I'm thinking you were thinking that, so I'm straightening it out.
After re-reading my post, I can see your point.
You know, I type alot of long posts! Hehe, mostly to clear up my sense of humor.( )
I just wanted to add some possibilities for the Michigan-dweller. There are shrooms to be found there, as it is prime condition for magic.
I'd like to add that MJShroomer's site link should be visible on every area of this forum at least. There are so many people that are interested in mushroom hunting that haven't a clue that his most-valuable site even exists. Consider typing "psilcoybe" or even "mushroom" in the search engine. The Shroomery will more than likely show up. Although, MJ's site may not. Well, I found it that way. Actually, a few years ago, I read his site up and down for months before finding out about The Shroomery and the fact that it had discussion boards such as this. Different scenario than that of many newbies to the sport.
I find myself doing this to most every constant member here, but seriously Enter, we're family. I'm kinda strange and am easily amused. Let's only think of peace in every situation.
(Shakes hand).
Stay cool and find 'em even in the cold!-Levi7.

haha Levi your a nut man =)
Some guy told me toward the end of last fall season that there was a island my marysville that has only cowfields and someone was growing cubensis in their house and the spores spread to the island. This story is particularly amusing as there are not even any island by marysville....oh well.

Why do I gotta be a nut?!!!!!!
Hell, I ain't the one who found those shrooms. I just picked 'em! Tasty SOBs they were!
Hey, where were you? It took me 4 days to get off that island! You know how potent those PNW cubies can be!
Anyway, it's over now, thank God. I'm trying to focus on the future now, cardboard. Please don't look down on me, man!
Stay cool!-Levi7.

Here's some that's listed for Michigan, according to Guzman,Allen and Gartz.
Conocybe smithii
Gymnopilus "species" (7 total)
Panaeolus subbalteatus
Pluteus salicinus
Psilocybe caerulipes
Ps.liniformans
Ps.silvatica
I'd concentrate my efforts looking for the Psilocybes and Panaeolus. The other species would probably be harder to identify, although there are some good pics of gymnos at several of the posts here at the Shroomery.

..Cubensis are not supposed to grow from, woodchips.
--Something fishy about that, and i remember the Lizards pics of that too
--There had to be dung underneath those chips of wood..
