Sorry to bump this but... I have recently found out that some Pans indeed do currently grow in the cow patties in south/eastern KY and other southern KY areas.... It is a VERY RARE find... but it has been heard of.

do you do any hunting in western ky? i know that i used to find cubies several years ago, but i haven't hunted them since i started growing. i'm interested in looking for them again, but i'd like to find something besides cubies. do you know of anything else that grows in my part of the state (land between the lakes region)?

I have never seen a wild cubie growing in western Kentucky, in fact I have never heard of them being there before. I have only seen pans on an ocansional rare find there.
I hope your right however.

you're probably right. my friends and i never sampled them out of fear and the fact that we had just discovered the pf tek. they did, if my memory serves correctly, look strikingly similar to the pf fruits. one "aquaintance" did swear on his mother's grave that they stained blue, but the quality of his info is shaky at best. anyway, i have no skills in identifying wild strains. i guess i just got sucked in to the local lore that circulates when you're young and bored. thanks for the help, though.
