Turbinado LC questions? Can I use micropore tape on jar lids if no silicone is available?

I am about to PC two jars of about 110 ml of water with 2.5 grams of RAW in them. I have 3 holes punched in the jar lids and am wondering what todo about them. I have no tyvek or silicone. only micropore tape coffee filters and tinfoil. what should I do? I'm assuming I just innoclate the same way as I would anythign else from that point right?

with my VERY limited knowledge i would put the tape/filter over the lid and double foil it and hold it down with rubber bands while PCing.
if i where you though, i would wait till someone experienced gives some opinions :smile:, im not confident in my skills yet lol

tyvek/RVT is cheap/easy to get. RVT cost me like 3.26 and tyvek was free :smile:

Its found at walmart, or auto stores. Its used on engines and radiators. its silicone seal with a high temperature threshold, to withstand PC'ing.

i put it over my inocculation hole because its self healing.

RTV and silicon are to make a self-healing injection port. That's where you would inoculate from and it's optional. Tyvek/Polyfill will let the mycelium breathe (gas exchange) while keeping contams out.

Have one hole; Cover the rest with duct tape or masking tape. Put a piece of micropore tape on it, then put the foil on the lid, PC, take the foil off, inoculate through the micropore tape and then put another piece of micropore tape on top. That'll probably work, but your chance of contamination is higher. You should head to your local post office and pick up some tyvek (if you live in the US).

To answer you question: yes.

Cover all holes with micropore with a foil cover.

PC, and when you inoculate it through one hole re-tape all the holes with alcohol soaked micropore for added security.
