Or at least get it the hell out of my yard.  I'm at the end of my wits with this shit.  This little asshole bird flies into my yard EVERY MORNING at 6:34am.  He's never late.  He attaches himself to the gutter outside my house and pecks the crap out of it for a solid hour, leaving me with no chance of falling back asleep. 

I've tried making noise with shit, throwing empty water bottles toward him, TICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICK.......TICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICK.......
TICKTICKTICKTICKTICK..............TICKTICKTICKTICIKTICK


And when he stops for more than 10 seconds I think it's over.  I slowly fall back asleep....TICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICKTICK.

Are there any natural woodpecker deterrents?  I want that little bastad out of my yard :crankey:.  There's nothing worse than that rolling peck when the only thing you want in the world at that moment in time is to fall gracefully back asleep. :crankey::crankey: :minigun:

A pellet gun is you best option.

Or you can wire a mouse or rat trap with a nut or a fat beetle on it to your gutter.

Or try some woodpecker repellant, I don't think it works very well, but it's available.

whys it pecking at your gutter? im assuming its made out of metal.

thats odd. i say you do a steakout and wait for it and then scare it off by raising all of your hairs on end to make yourself look bigger.

Thank you, you are a kind soul :yesnod:  :lol:  You'd think wood would be annoying enough, but when he hits the metal it makes my blood boil.  It sounds like a jackhammer because of all places it the gutter outside my room.  I'm hoping he just pecks himself retarded and forgets how to fly, but I know better....woodpecker's prolly have built in protection from that kind of shit.

Woodpeckers are endangered and it is illegal to kill them. Try a suet feeding stand, away from that area. You could try a squirt gun with water, or making loud noises(like a airhorn) when he is doing it to frighten it away.

I used to have a little bugger drive me crazy and all I can say is "GOOD LUCK!"  Maybe just try to remember that he's eating a bunch of nasty l'il bugs for you.  Guess you are just gonna have to learn to "get in tune with nature" .  Sorry so unsympathetic, I am a wee bit drunk! :paperbag:  ok and maybe a little high! :bigjoint:

They aren't all endangered.

The mylar ribbons might work, or they might just make the bird move further down.

The bird eye ballons don't work well and neither do plastic owls.

I agree with the bird feeder idea-- try pounding in an L-shaped piece of wood or something near where it is going and place some suet on it-- though if it's bugs the thing is looking for yuo might have to get ugly...do peckers even eat seed?

I am pretty sure woodpeckers are looking for insects not seed. That's why they peck the tree, to eat termites, ants and such.

It sounds to me like the time for negotions and use of less than lethal tactics is way passed. It seems most prudent to use deadly force to neutralize the target if necessary.

Either that or start shooting that fucker with a water hose or super soaker a few times. He should get the message.

Oh and the duct tape or double sided tape is used pretty effectively for pigeons, but I don't know what it will do for woodpeckers.
