nutrition for mushies
    #680901 - 06/15/02 05:45 PM (22 years, 5 months ago)

what chemicals do mushies need for growth, psilocybin production, etc.... i do a little farming and for instance if the garlic is yellowing it needs nitrogen. stuff like that. i'm only looking for the basics, something that could prolly be found in the first chapter of any mycology text book. pondering starting my first attempt at growing and wondering if theres anything that i could add to one of the jars to see if theres any better progress. thanks

I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but for your FIRST time growing I would stick with a tried a true tek. Simply brf/verm will work great, after you have the techniques down then you can start experimenting. Also, I have no idea what the answer is to your question, but I would try asking it in the Advanced Cultivation forum, they usually know things like that.

Yeah keep it simple your first time out read the growing FAQ the PF tek and go from there otherwise your setting yourself up for disaster.

You can add tryptamine to the substrate to increase potency.

sure i will use a tried and true method for most, but a syringe will innoculate a few jars right? so i may as well tinker with one, with my level of expereince in the matter it wouldn't make sense to do more than that. i figure if i give it a shot most would be standard with 1 that had something else added. still no idea with what these guys need?

I'm pretty sure a tryptamine is somethink that makes you "trip" such as mushrooms or peyote or mescaline. Things of that nature.

Read on a post the other day that Light Malt added phrosphorus (please excuse the spelling big word confuse me lol) which is necessary for psilo production. Plain BRF works great, but the Malt gives it a boost. I got the malt at a brew store. Tried a few jars a couple days ago, and gonna innoc. tonight.
Ive done BRF, rye and birdseed by the book and the shrooms are plenty potent.

Peace,
Bob
