bored & alone on a saturday night ... ideas?

having decided to take a hiatus (temporarily or maybe permanently) from smoking pot, I've realized that my entire friend-base has been created around smoking pot ... what used to be a fun and relaxing activity when hanging out with other friends now has become the only reason my friends want to hang out at all ... I called one of my friends today, not even to hang out, and he was with my other buddies, stoned off his ass ... didn't even sound like he was having fun, he sounded boring and tired and I wanted no part of that environment ...

frankly, that's the entire reason I am actively avoiding pot now ... the depressing boredom of being blissed-out all the time ... at least people who drink liquor tend to be exciting and active UNTIL they pass out ...

so that leaves me with ... 0 choices of friends who are true friends and don't NEED to smoke a bowl every few minutes for no reason at all.

this transition out of smoking weed and being associated with people who only smoke weed is a lonely transition ... I can, however, say that at this sober moment, I still feel infinitely better than I ever have stoned in the past year ... so I still have no desire to smoke ... but I'm just bored.

so ... anybody have any ideas, big or small, for some fun things to do on a saturday night in the big city?  going to a bar or club alone would definitely make me feel even more isolated ... if I were rolling I'd go and make a million friends and maybe even meet a girl, but that's not the case tonight ...

help me out! :smile2:

is it nice out? I'm chillin' alone tonight too. I was gonna go take a pretty long walk. That's always nice and it leaves you nice and tired and refreshed when you get done. :thumbup:

Then, I'm thinking of chillin' out, listening to some weird finnish folk I just downloaded, and writing/drawing until I pass out.

I really think the walk is a good idea though.

i always have a season of some really hot tv show for nights like you describe. for example, i have yet to start the shield or entourage yet but i have the full first season of both.

Hey now, I don't know what the hell a true friend is; So far as I'm concerned any friend is, or else they are not a friend to begin with - perhaps instead an acquaintance, associate, or third-party.  At any rate, its too bad I'm not available this evenin' as I would've loved to toss back a brew and engage in random ramblings, but it was a pleasant surprise to hear your voice after such time nevertheless!

PS. Going for a walk (really any type of exercise), playing and/or listening to music, reading, drawing, masturbating, cooking, catching a flick, learning a new trade, these are all good things to do when one finds oneself with time on one's hands! :yesnod:

you should read some of my philosophy handouts, then write a page or two just musing over them.  nothing too intense..  it'd be fun! :laugh:

i have 15 weekly journals due in two weeks, on top of another 15-20 page paper... so i have a shit ton of writing to do.  oi vey i say!

I know how you feel, it's not that irregular for me to spend a saturday night at home by myself. You could put a movie on or listen to some music. Sometimes I read things online that I'm interested about to learn about, like I like chemistry so sometimes I just teach myself a little more about it, that way I don't feel like I've completely wasted the day too. Good luck finding a way to entertain yourself. :thumbup:

If you aren't already into it then take up photography. If I find myself bored I like to grab my camera and take a stroll. I get into a creative state of mind and start taking abstract pics of everyday things that I see. And nightime can be a lot of fun if you incorporate a tripod and some time exposures. Its a great hobby to enjoy by yourself. In fact its actually better as a solo venture.

If you aren't already into photography then I don't have any immediate ideas...sorry.

Video games are almost as satisfying as putting on a pair of sweatpants when they're just out of the dryer and still warm.  But you have your socks and undies on first, so you put warm sweatpants on and then you're already totally set to go.  A little slice of heaven.  :smile2:
