what do you do when you are bored? watch tv? read a book? smoke? eat? sleep? etc? whats wrong exactly with being "bored"? why do we feel the need to be doing "something"? whats wrong with just sittin there, doing nothing? and, why is every sentance in this post a question? what does that mean?

It's productive in that I am interacting socially with people from around the globe, often in topics of relevance (posts in the pub and OTD excluded) which through debate help me more understand my own stance on certain issues. As I post and reply to posts I am learning more about myself and others whereas if I just sat on my ass, and stared off into space I really wouldn't learn much. I find I don't debate as well with myself as I do with others.

Hehe, no, that's the only places you've seen me. I've been posting in PAL, a few posts in mush cult, and 1 or 2 in WAF as well I think. Oh, and lest we forget, I visited OTD briefly to advise someone that they should do us all a favor end thier pointless existance.

hey sha-roomletts. interesting topic.

i was bored a little earlier. it's dreadful. that in-between state of existence where you realize that you've just refreshed your email page 4 times in the last 5 minutes...

it's terrible.

so later today i was thinking about what sorts of spells i could conjour up (while i felt okay; not bored) that i could cast on myself to draw me out of the drab when it happens.

among a few other things, randomness is a great answer, i think.

for example, while i was peeing, thinking about being bored, i decided to let my legs wobble to the side under me, like my top torso all of the sudden became heavier to a set of rubberish legs, and i grunted uncertainly like an old pirate, acting completely suprised by the event. haha. the brain becomes entertained again.

i turned to wash my hands, and the water was cold. ohhh, don't want cold water, it being so cold outside... but ah! cold water on my face! no! and on my neck!

you've gotta suprise yourself, for no goddamn reason. and your brain becomes engaged again.

i walked down the hallway and decided to spin back and forth from walking regularly and backwards.

some mild excersize does me really well, also.

i recommend taking a walk like it is an adventure; try to find details in things that you've never seen before. like REALLY LOOK at how a spiderweb is woven, or how a squirrel is behaving, or the faces that people make while they are looking at traffic or waiting in line or driving. do people seem happy, confused, scared... bored? there is alot going on if we just take the attention to look around.

i like making a list of things that i need to get done, also. and maybe write down some of the ideas that i feel most strongly about. a refocusing effort.

if all else fails, run naked through your house chanting the most bizzare things you can think of. then drink some ketchup, two huge mouthfuls, smack yourself on the right buttcheek (make sure it actually hurts you enough to suprise yourself!), and speak to your pets, cushions, or maybe pieces of furniture as if you are an old general who is inspiring them to storm the hill in an epic battle that will be remembered for all of history.

or some such thing. the more details, the more obscure, the more uncomfortable or weird, the better.

because boredom is a terrible fiend who steals our life sometimes! we are pretty damn awesome entertainment machines if only we want to be.

being bored is a result of your ego enforcing its will upon reality.  its says that reality should be this way and so one reaction might be boredom, especially if you're not doing anything at all. your ego wants to do something, it's not satisfied with just being. when you're bored, try and clear your mind, find something to focus on.  or..go do something

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.
